RAINYSEASON on Lake Titicaca

RAINYSEASON IS COMMING NEXT IN THE ANDEAN WORLD

In October it has rained a little, folks were so glad to see the first precipitations, but it just for some days in the mid of month. Now it´s November all families are planting potatoes, quinoa, barley, maize and so through the Andes with the hope this year 2017 the rains will be better than last time.
Here in Puno region more that 60% of people are farmers. At 12500 feet high surrounding the Sacred Lake Titicaca we grow not just Andean tubers and quinoa but many vegetables as carrots, lettuce and cauliflower in the basins of the lake.

There is a microclimate that maintains the cultivations humid. The tempters fluctuate between 40 and 65 Fahrenheit in summer time from November till April.
Thousands of families in the Andean communities from Colombia, Ecuador, and here in Peru are farmers also.
Many Aymara communities in the southern Andes including Bolivia, some areas of Chile and Argentina depend on agriculture.
We just depend in the forces of the nature -Pachamama- from Ancients times. Much of products are organic.

Small communities being self-sufficient based on agriculture even when the global climate change´s beating millions of peasants not much in the Andean zone but several areas of the world.

BEAUTY OF LAKE TITICACA’S DEEP BLUE WATERS

THE BEAUTY OF LAKE TITICACA’S DEEP BLUE WATERS

In the fresh mornings I used to see from my window the clearness of its waters surrounded by hills and another islands. Some fishing boats, Andean gulls, upper white beautiful clouds, simple awesome!

Oh wonder of Pachamama!
Built with the forces of nature above the Andes in the high plateau
Through the millenniums.
Its dozens of islands with wunderbar vistas, its humble people how speak Quechua, Aymara and Spanish (Isla Suasi, Isla Soto, Taquile, Amantani, Isla del sol…)

In afternoons I liked to see the sunset (June- September) from the hill of “Itapilluni” (Suasi Island) with tourists up there. Surrounding us the sacred lake of the incas. The sky changing its colors, slowly tata Inti or the sun is disappearing on the western horizon behind the mountains.
The wind blows the mass of waters, as well as the blue sky`s now getting orange, light yellow, purple and so…during the last 15 minutes…”what a such sunset echo the tourists while continue taking pictures.
And the wind blows our faces…the night coming back with its black blanket.  It’s time to go back to our lodge.

Living in a tiny island on the highest navigable lake in the planet was amazing, close to sky, closer the Milky Way and constellations. Remembering the myths and legends of the Ancient Collas and Incas as Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo” legend arising from the blue waters around the Sun Island today Bolivia.
